Hello!
My name is Diane Connerty,
Owner and wedding planner for the North Woods Inn!
I was born and grew up in Whippany NJ. After high school I attended business school and soon found myself working at Allied Chemical Corp in Morris Township, NJ. This is where I met my husband Jim, a carpenter for an outside maintenance contractor at Allied.
After our engagement and marriage Jim and I lived in a few different places in Jersey. After the birth of our 2 children Justin & Megan we purchased our first hotel at the Jersey Shore. Settling to a small town called Point Pleasant. (No! - not the Point Pleasant portrayed in the Mothman movie with Richard Gere) Scary! (Hint: That was in Ohio!)
After 2 years we purchased our second lodging property at the Jersey Shore. This property had a pizzeria and clam bar on the boardwalk in Seaside heights.
We owned and operated both businesses for almost 8 years. When we were made an “offer we couldn’t refuse” - Jersey style - we sold both locations and relocated to the Adirondacks in 2004. We purchased The North Woods Inn that year and the rest is history, as they say. How could you not love the beauty of the Adirondacks? We were enchanted!
My husband Jim , kids, Justin & Megan, and I all work at the North Woods Inn now. We live just a few miles away - far enough to get away and close enough in case we are needed.
The North Woods Inn has blossomed into the place to get married in our area. We have had 100’s of weddings, anniversaries, and rehearsal dinners at our property. In my next post we will discuss the process of planning a wedding here in the Adirondacks.
